Check out my blog at: ………………………………………………………………………………… www.thebrotherfire.com ………………………………………………………………………………… My submission for the VFS and youtube “What Matters to You” Scholarship Competition. What Matters to Me? Using all the things I love, like Design, Motion Graphics, Typography, Music, Film, and Animation, to make this world a better place. There’s a lot of people in really bad circumstances, and I hope that I can play a part in making their lives just a little better. Even if its simply telling their stories and letting the world know about them. Thanks to the Vancouver Film School (VFS) for hosting this Scholarship Competition. (I am planning on attending the Digital Design course next year, whether I win this Scholarship or not). Thanks to all the other great contest entries. And congratulations to the other Finalists. Like What Matters to You (VFS Entry) from directortoby and Non Voix from furiouseggs and Espresso 3000 from animale38. Also, thanks to great VFS videos like Pandamonium by Vancouver Film School student Keon Ghei Yu for the VFS Digital Character Animation program, Dancing Animals in Love by Vancouver Film School student Ben Meinhardt for the VFS Classical Animation program, and After Oz by Vancouver Film School student Percy Kiyabu for the VFS 3D Animation & Visual Effects program. Without these videos, I wouldn’t even know VFS existed. And finally, thanks to my wife Asia (who put up with me spending a ridiculous amount of time on this project) for all of her Love and Support. I really couldn’t have done this without you.

Part 4
So perhaps knowing this info would perhaps allow you to draw different conclusions, The palestinians controlled this area and wor muscled out… I as a New Zealander believe that the Israelis were out of line in the creation of israel and the refugee issue and can hardly blame Palestinians (although i dislike the methods) for attempting retaliation… Look up the history.
Thanks for letting me get that rant out of my system

part 3
Following Deir Yassien and the war of independence the United Nations created UN Resolution 194 which called for the return of the palestinians to their home which was ignored by the israelis. Then after the 6 day war when israel expanded again and more people left homeless UN created resolution 242 which called for the settlement of the refugee issue and their return to palestine. This also went unanswered

Israel took over around 80% of what had traditionally been Palestine, they are wanted to be wiped off the planet for the humanitarian crisis they have caused with nearly 1.4M palestinian refugees, it are these refugees that are responsible for the bombings in retaliation to losing their homes and land to the israelis. This is crucial to the understanding of the events happening now and i would suggest you look up the history before making such comments

MattOFthe954, I’d suggest you read up on the history of Palestine-Israel…. It may interest you to know that thanks to the Israelis who succeeded in creating Israel by force in 1948 with the Israeli war of independence created their own problems especially with such evens at this time as Deir Yassein in which many people were raped and killed at the hands of the israeli millitary. Similar events occured with the six day war

Cool the way you did it. Just don’t agree with you siding with the Palestinian families when America is allied with Israel. The Israeli families are the ones who are victims to suicide bombers everyday and have had to defend themselves against every other country around them since they came into existence. Everyone wants to completely wipe them off the face of the planet. They are the ones who need help, not Palestine.

I have since tried to embrace my talents, and put them to good use. one of those happens to be baking, and like you mentioned i do regular baking for the womens resource center in my town. It is something I love to do, and I know it is going to people who need and deserve it.
Thank you for making such an inspirational video.

Hey I loved the video. I agree with you that you dont have to be a doctor or an aid worker to help people in need, but i used to think that way. Dr James Orbinski was actually the one who helped me see otherwise. A great doctor, who has saved countless lives, said that he valued the arts, and that his son had an amazing singing voice, and he would be thrilled if persued that as a career.
